Then why aren’t …
Then why aren’t there thousands of peacocks floating dead in the canals of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties?
I’ll tell you why…because they live when they are released!!!!!
I bet I catch 2,000 peacocks a year and not 1 have I ever seen floating dead in the water…

I think the point …
I think the point STEM is trying to make is that although most serious bass fisherman practic CPR, what most forget is that by bouncing fish or handling fish you are taking the slimecoat off the fish, which makes them susceptible to infections which can result in the fish dying. So, although you think the fish is OK just because it swam off, there is a chance that fish will die because you mishandled it. DFG has done research on this and it has been found that fish do die as a result of CPR.

So you can actually …
So you can actually see the fish?

a number of those …
a number of those fish were caught flippin a small live shiner. I use a Mustad size #2 hook and clip a small splitshot right above the hook. Also try a small bucktail jig or small rattletrap on the bedding fish. They cant stand it.

LOL…I would think …
LOL…I would think so. I advise putting the fish immediately on ice if you plan on eating it later. The peacocks are good to eat but the Mayan cichlids, oscars and tilapia are better. Better of to put the peacocks and bass back to be caught again. Eat / keep all of the oscars, cichlids and tilapias that you can stuff in the cooler.

hey what if I’m …
hey what if I’m gonna eat that MO FO then can it flop around in the boat for a while? Peacocks are GREAT to eat!
September 13th, 2009 at 1:16 am
LOL…that would …
LOL…that would definately not go over well! People will spew their venom at whoever will listen. I am conservation minded and believe in protecting our fisheries as well as our fish. That is why I left these comments up. Fish die at every BASS tournament and every FLW event etc.. Do we outlaw tournament fishing? I think not! We do the best that we can to manage the resource so furure generations can also. I practice catch and release. Regardless of STEM opinion the fish swim away just fine.
