I am going to Peru on a cruise through the Amazon River, with stops at villages. I need to bring in a couple of rifles (for self-defense and permitted hunting) and (not mandatory) a handgun.

Hey everyone,

I ordered my PC parts for my gaming build yesterday on AMAZON, I qualified for the FREE SUPER SAVING shipment and I used that for shipping.

The problem?
I received an e-mail after I placed my order.
It basically confirmed my order etc etc with total price and it gave me estimated delivery date.

I bought all the parts online, so it has 9 items. Some weird California law separated my order into THREE shipments.

The first package = 7 ITEMS, estimated arrival date: June 27, 2011 - June 29, 2011
The second package = 1 ITEM, estimated arrival date: June 24, 2011 - June 29, 2011
The last package= 1 ITEM, estimated arrival date: June 24, 2011 - June 29, 2011

Why am I worried?
My parents are leaving for a cruise on Monday the 27th, I will be at home myself.
I don’t have free time, I have summer school MON-THURS 7am - 1:30pm
(Taking Pre-Calculus beforehand)

What if my order comes in the morning while I’m at school with no one home?
Will they just carelessly leave it on my doorstep? (as this is free shipping.)
Or what?

I have a actual porch that surrounds the door, it is about 10feet wide in diameter, with walls that are around 4 feet tall, Will they carefully "hide" the package somewhere in my front porch? or will they just leave it in the doorstep where everyone can see?

Or what?

The first thing to do is to go into your account in Amazon and it should show you under each of the three shipments, who the merchant is that is shipping those items. It could be shipping from three different merchants. Either way, you should have three different tracking numbers, and once each package is shipped, there will be a link to track the actual package. You should be able to see who the carrier is. Now, the time each package will arrive at your house should be the typical time each carrier arrives. For example if one package was sent UPS, that package should arrive about the time that UPS typically delivers to your home. Same for USPS (depending on the package size, they may leave in your mailbox or bring to your front door or porch). If you are not home, normally the carrier will leave the package if they feel it is safe to do so (up to the carrier judgment unless the shipper has requested a signature only delivery). This way, by checking the tracking you can narrow down very closely when the package should arrive. If you will not be there, check the tracking immediately upon your return if you don’t find the package when you return. If its just a matter of a few hours, you should be ok.

I’m very scared of spiders, and other bugs. I live in an area where there aren’t many of them, and so I’m scared of even tiny spiders. I’m not just scared that they’ll bite me, I just become overcome with fear when I’m in a room with one.

I’m going to Peru, and for some of the time I’ll be visiting the Amazon. I know that there are many spiders there, ones that I’ll be afraid of. I’ve seen pictures and I can’t even look at the picture, it freaks me out too much. (Oh and I forgot to say, it’s not just spiders, I’m scared of all bugs basically. I heard they might have scorpions and things like that. THAT would freak me out.)

I know that I’ll have to face these fears. But the one thing I’m especially worried about is having to try to fall asleep, knowing there could possibly be a spider somewhere near me. How segregated are the beds/sleeping arrangements from the outdoors? I’ve heard that I’ll be in an eco-lodge, and I don’t know what that is. I might also sleep in a tent.

Will I be able to get into bed without worrying that a spider will crawl near me in the middle of the night?

And how are the bathrooms in the amazon? I imagine them as being like the ones I’ve seen on hiking trips, a wooden box with hole in it, set up above a deep hole in the ground. Will I have to worry that while I’m going to the bathroom, some insect will crawl up my back?

Thanks in advance for whatever answer you can offer. It’d be great to get an answer or two from someone with experience in this part of the world.

The amazon has a los of bugs, spiders, etc.
if you are going to stay at an eco-lodge the have this green nets to protect every bedroom there.
you should apply an insect repelent and can take B complex vitamin.
i went ther when i was very little, and i wasnt worried about the bugs, i was more worried about the heat there. its very hot.

Im looking for a lodge cast iron fish pan. Can anyone help me find one. Now when i say a fish pan im not talking about a frying pan that is round you call a fish pan. I like to cook. And I am looking for versatility when cooking on the trail. I go in a style pre1840’s so need something that will fit the period. Cast iron is way to heavy!! I would like a fry pan maybe5 1/2-8nichess round with a lid that can double as a second fry pan.Preferablyy bot with handles.

What your looking for are "Tin" cooking ware pans there are not too many manufactures of the 1840’s style of ware but there are tin pans and you can also us copper lined tin pans. The reason you Don’t find these any more is that lead was used to seal the pans and as we all know lead is toxic. They did not know that back in the 1840’s. So as an alternative cooper cookware which is just as light and was also available in that time period could be used. There are a few Tin ware items I did find on the internet ie bread loaf pans and such but nothing that looked of the 1840 period.

A lot of pie plate tins again would work not just as a pan for cooking but a plate as well, however no handle.

What you could try is making your own from large tin cans, Just get a large bulk food can the 120oz size cans you can get at bulk food supply stores and then cut and shape to the design of your choice.

i would buy my own island and take a cruise there and build a nice 3 story house with a 72 inch plasma screen tv and a circle shaped water bed with fish in it then buy everything from my wish-list from Amazon
