How long would it take to travel along the amazon by boat from the delta in Brazil to Peru?
Call up a cruise line and ask them. Many of them do take that route. Good luck!

hello! me and my boyfriend are looking to travel to Brazil and go to the Amazon rain forest mid January time…the cheapest flights we can find are £700 each return. Was wondering if anyone has been for any cheaper? The airport needs to be fairly close to any part of the amazon…we were looking at Manaus.
Thanks!
Flights to Brazil will take between 16 and 22 hours depending on your route. There are few direct flights from the UK so it may be sensible to find a european or US gateway.
Try some of the online sites like travelsupermarket and cheapflights and also independent travel agencies like www.journeysalacarte.co.uk or travelbag for example. Independent travel agents have more scope in the range of airlines they can access than the normal High St agencies and they also specialise in the independent travel scene rather than package holidays to the Costas.
Brazil is a former Portuguese colony so trying TAP the Portuguese airline and Varig the Brazilian national carrier would be a good idea.
I think it likely that you will end up with a three part journey in the end, UK to gateway, then to major airport in Brazil and then a local flight to the Amazon. That would point me to the independent agents as this is where they shine.
Good luck

I want to be Explorer and discover unidentified places. The only one place I could think of is Amazon Forests
Can you please guide me to a good agent or group that I can go with
I dont mind risking my life for this
If that’s the only unexplored area you can think of, I suggest you explore some tamer areas first and get some knowledge of the world. To try to ‘discover unidentified places’ in areas such as the Amazon jungle as a novice would be virtual suicide.
I am trying to think of the name of a certain film. I believe it’s about a huge steam ship traveling up the Amazon river… I think the movie might have been made in the 80’s. Does anyone remember what I’m talking about?
Fitzcarraldo, amazing movie. and i’m not sure if you’re a fan of the adult swim cartoon series Metalocalypse, but they parody that film very well in one episode.
I’d like to visit either Peru or Brazil in November (Thanksgiving time). But I am concerned on whether it is safe to go there with my 8 month old baby. I’ve heard that the altitude in Machu Picchu might make it tough for a baby to breathe, and I personally think that the Amazon won’t be safe either. So I’d like to know of other baby friendly places to visit in the area where the entire family can have a good time. All suggestions are welcome! Thanks
I think you had best bone up on the politics of the countries in South America. Brazil is relatively safe and does have modern medical care if needed. However, the country is plagued by gang violence. So if you go, I would strictly stay in the el touristo mode. In other words, I would not stray from the beaten path.
Argentina is another relatively safe country to visit and is the SA country that’s most similar to the US. I would be careful traveling around the countryside however, because its real estate ads use proximity to a police station as a selling point. That should tell you something.
Uruguay, like Argentina, is a very Europe nation and is very safe, compared to other South American countries. Montevideo also has wonderful beaches and beautiful people. With an 8 month old baby you might not be interested in beautiful people…but then again.
Chile is also safe and it has an interesting area to the south that is reminiscent of Switzerland but with volcanoes. You’ll also find a lot of ex-Nazis there, so if fascism isn’t your thing, you might not want to bring up your egalitarian beliefs.
Other than these four countries, I would not want to visit the rest, much less with a baby. Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Columbia and Paraguay are political nightmares with revolutions and violence a constant everyday occurrence. If I was in a suicidally adventurous mood, which happens to me every twenty years or so, I would venture it, but definitely not with an infant.
Personally, I’m partial to Buenas Aires because of its Parisian atmosphere the tango. But that’s just little old sophisticated me. I hope I been of some use.

Some guy called me yesterday and said my name had been drawn. The web site is www.amazontravelclub.com. Apparently myself and a guest can go for $250 each and we must provide transport, but the club pays for 90% of the trip (over 4K). He also added that two friends can go for free.
I said I didnt have $500 available to secure our spots that night (it has to be credit card), so he is only making me pay the one person now, other due @ time of reservation. Even the $250 charge would have put my card over its limit, and there was no way to transfer money to my debit that fast. So I convinced him to give me another day.
Robert Leslie from ATC is calling me at 4pm today to put the charge on my card and for me to authorize the transaction. Someone please tell me, IS THIS A SCAM?
The trip is to Florida: Orlando , Ft Lauderdale, Daytona Beach. I entered the contest at the NY State Fair.
It sounds like it might be a scam. He said your name had been drawn, but they still want you to pay $500.00. Did you enter a contest on there website? Where are you going for your $500.00 dollars? When he calls back ask him if you have to sit through a sales presentation. It kinda sounds like a Time Share scam.
