LG 32LD550 UK version and US version difference?
Hi guys I just purchased this TV from a UK retailer and did some research afterwards to see what half of the features are for.
On amazon I was given this link: http://lge.product-tours.com/amazon/tour?ASIN=B0039RRCFM
and after searching on the LG site I found this link..http://www.lg.com/uk/tv-audio-video/televisions/LG-lcd-tv-32LD550.jsp
I am now wondering why the US version has 120hz TruMotion and the UK version only has 100hz…??
And will there be any noticeable difference while viewing?
I do know that years ago US TVs were 60hz and UK were always 50hz so the figures seem to have doubled now but why are UK versions lower?
Cheers,
Mike
Traditionally, the vertical scan or frame rate of a TV has been the same as the AC mains frequency, so any picture distortion as a result of weaknesses in the power supply is in a fixed position rather than ‘running’ up or down the screen.
These scan rates are now part of the broadcast standards.
The double or multiple rate displays use interpolation between two broadcast frames to try and give smoother motion, but the number of frames the TV is receiving is still the same so the final display rate can only be a multiple of that.
For non-HD TVs, while the frame rate is slightly lower we in the UK have the advantage that each frame has more scan lines & detail, so a slightly higher overall resolution than with 60Hz countries.
