Canadian resident needs a bank account based in the US to conduct business on amazon.com is it possible?

Amazon.com requires me as a Canadian resident to have a US based account so that I can accept payments. Is it possible to open such an account without having to travel to the US? If so what bank may be suggested??

Bit of a tricky one:

As you probably know the US banking system is quite parochial.

You’re best option would probably be to find a Canadian bank with branches in the US: but I’m afraid I can’t suggest any myself.

Failing that HSBC would certainly be able to set you up but I’m sure such an account would have quite heavy fees.

Hope these limited suggestions are helpful but truth is it’s a real pain to get small amounts of money out of the USA .
