How can I manage my hair in the Amazon jungle?
I’ll be spending 2 months in the Amazon jungle soon and need tips on how to manage my hair. I’m white and my hair is shoulder length, very fine and quite wavy. It gets greasy at the roots within a day of washing it. There will be cold showers available. Any ideas?
I’d plait it and keep it as tidy as poss, it will be very humid so you won’t want it around your neck. Also sweat attracts mosquitos so you are better keeping it up. Shampoo works well with cold water too so don’t worry.
I went to the Himalayas on a trek, never saw a shower for 6 days and didn’t give a damn what my hair looked like until I got back to Kathmandu and a hotel. The shower was the best shower I had had in my life. you know that ad for shampoo when the girl is screaming yes, oh yes……that’s what I was doing, it was bliss!!
Wish I was going with you!!!! Am I jealous, you bet!!!!

Get it cut very, very short! Believe me it won’t be a beauty parade out there. Avoiding mosquito bites will be more important than your hair

Baby powder for the greasy roots, then you won’t have to shower as often. There is also dry shampoo, or you can buy a "next day spray" which helps absorb grease. mark. by Avon makes one, and it’s only $5. http://karensavon.com. Or try http://www.sephora.com/browse/section.jhtml?categoryId=C17780&cm_mmc=us_search-_-GG-_-hr%20dry%20shampoo-_-S1215542456_ADOGOB_AGI1097820_CRE1826264087_TID105024199_RFDd3d3Lmdvb2dsZS5jb20%3d for dry shampoo.

Braids, braids, braids, Either go get some cornrows or have a friend put your hair in a lot of little braids and leave them in until you get home. You can still wash your hair but you won’t have to worry about brushing or styling it. My sister-in-law does this when she goes to Guatemala. (Humanitarian work). Plus, it looks really cute!

i spent 3 weeks in sri lanka - hot and very very humid. my hair is shoulder length and curly. i just washed it and tied a fabric scarf round my head to keep the hair out of my face and left it. it dried on its own looked neat and stayed out of my face- or you could wear a baseball cap- might be a bit hot though. Have fun by the way and watch out for spiders!!!

ok i have wavy hair too.. and i suggest getting this prodct i use it and its fabulous
http://www.lookfantastic.com/hair/tigi-catwalk/styling/tigi-catwalk-curls-rock-curls-booster-spray.html
since ur hair is wavy just spray it all around when its like 5 min out of the shower flip your head and scrunch like 3 times with out jell and clip your bangs back if you have them
it should look really pretty and be relatively no hassle

i think you should just tie it up because its going to get way out of hand or braid it, scrunch it.
you can use dry shampoo, and definantly get some spray in leave in conditioner, something with a uv shield in it.
