Where should we go on holiday in april 2010?

January 29, 2010 - 10:25 am 8 Comments

We can have up to 3 weeks off work but only in april and want to do a trip of a life time. We aren’t into the normal places like Spain, Mexico etc, we like off the beaten track type of holidays. We don’t mind cruises or multi centre. Our interests are wildlife & photography. Some of the places we have been already are:
Kenya
South Africa
Brazil
Borneo & Kuala Lumpur
Canada & Alaska

We don’t mind travelling as long as the flights aren’t really early. We want the holiday to be as relaxed as possible but we want lots to do. We were thinking about Peru, Amazon & Galapagos but i think that is turning out abit too expensive and the flights are a bit annoying as there is stop offs.

We don’t want to do Australia. don’t worry about budget.

Any suggestions please

Given your interests, I would second the suggestion for Costa Rica. Visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest there and with all the time you have, combine it with Belize (see the jaguars if you’re lucky) and maybe some of Panama.

Personally, I like the Netherlands at the end of April. There isn’t a lot of wildlife, but you can find some interesting waterbirds around. There are lots of photo opportunities though; I get a couple of thousand photos every year. The tulips are usually at their peak then.

Which travel books is better: Fodors, Moon or National Geographic Traveler?

January 17, 2010 - 8:39 am 3 Comments

I am going to travel to one Central American country, need a book with local hotels, restaurants, roads and other points of interest listings.

Amazon has these four: Lonely Planer, Fodors, Moon and National Geographic Traveler. All about $13-$17.

Which one is better?

Lonely Planet!!! By far the best travel books. I have tried them all and I have been to different locations in the far east, europe and south america, US and Hawaii also.

You can also take these books out the the library or buy slightly used copies on Amazon. I have done that too.

Why is Guitar Hero World Tour w/ Guitar less expensive that Guitar Hero III w/ Guitar?

GH3:

GHWT:
http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii-Guitar-Hero-World-Tour/dp/B001ABLHKA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1261684673&sr=1-2

I understand why GHWT is cheaper than GH5 (because GHWT is older):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029Y5INE/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=

But why is GH3 so expensive when it came out 2 years ago? Does GH3 come with 2 guitars?

Wiki about GH3: "The title is the first installment of the series to include wireless guitars bundled with the game and also the first to release a special bundle with two guitars."

Let me know, thanks!

This is just my opinion, but I have GH3 and GHWT and I would understand why GH3 is more expensive: It’s a much better game. GH3 has classic songs that are well known. It’s probably a supply and demand thing. (I think GH3’s songs are even better than GH5 but, again, that’s just my opinion.)

The link you showed wasn’t for the set with two guitars. The two guitar bundle says plainly on the box "Dual Guitar Starter Pack" and it shows the two guitars it comes with. Here’s an example for GHWT’s bundle set:

If you’re debating on getting one of these two games I’d go with GH3. Yeah, it’s older but better.

Space travel. Astral bodies lack mass so does rules of space/time apply to them?

January 13, 2010 - 5:48 pm 3 Comments

If Astral projection is true (out of our bodies) then we in that form should not be limited to natural laws of space time and distance for that matter.

Just hanging out on another planet observing Aliens doing stuff. I thought would be cool, but then again just going to the Amazon and watching the wild life there would be kinda the same. Do you think it’s possible for us to evolve to the point of astral travel to other worlds?

No space/time & scientific laws as we currently understand them do not apply to the astral body nor the astral realm. Space/time do not really exist in the way scientists currently understand it. They are illusions. As long as you are subjected to this dimension & your 5 physical senses you will never really see past these illusions with your ‘ordinary senses’ (at least not in this time in evolution).

What do you mean: ‘Do you think it’s possible for us to evolve to the point of astral travel to other worlds?’
We don’t have to evolve more in order to do it. We already can do it. It’s a natural ability we all have. It’s up to you to learn & practice it if you want to experience it for yourself. People have been doing it for thousands of years. In modern society though it is not common because we are all so materialistically minded & too reliant on technology. These things will hinder & suppress your natural abilities.

The astral body is not made of electricity or anything similar. It is a nonphysical formless construction of your mind & is a part of your very mind itself.

About the Amazon Jungle?

Anyone have some info about Amazon Jungle pls??

Amazon Rainfores

The Amazon rainforest also known as Amazonia, or the Amazon jungle, is a moist broadleaf forest that covers most of the Amazon Basin of South America. This basin encompasses seven million square kilometers (1.7 billion acres), of which five and a half million square kilometers (1.4 billion acres) are covered by the rainforest. This region includes territory belonging to nine nations. The majority of the forest is contained within Brazil, with 60% of the rainforest, followed by Peru with 13%, and with minor amounts in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. States or departments in four nations bear the name Amazonas after it. The Amazon represents over half of the planet’s remaining rainforests, and it comprises the largest and most species-rich tract of tropical rainforest in the world.

The Amazon rainforest was short-listed in 2008 as a candidate to one of the New7Wonders of Nature by the New Seven Wonders of the World Foundation. As of February 2009 the Amazon was ranking first in Group E, the category for forests, national parks and nature reserves.

What is a job in science that gets you to travel to places like the Amazon, and other places like that ?

January 7, 2010 - 4:02 am 1 Comment

Places like Egypt, the Amazon, Africa, ect. A Job that demands exploration.

You may want to study archeology or anthropology which would allow you to travel and learn about ancient civilizations. As a sociologist, you could travel and learn about other cultures but that is not the only thing one can do with a sociology degree and you would need a Phd. in order to get jobs traveling and doing field research. Sociologist’s also do things such as help set up social service organizations in local communities and get involved in local government.
