How to get from Peru to Rio de Janeiro in a month?

September 15, 2009 - 11:13 am 1 Comment

I’m go next month to Peru to stay there for two months. Thereafter i want to travel through South America. I will leave Peru half January and i want to go to the Carnival in Rio (end of February). Does anyone have some good tips , advice or experience? Like a boat trip on the Amazon, amazon trip from Bolivia ect?

im peruvian. im pretty sure you can travel from peru to brazil through the amazon . when you get to peru you have to get to iquitos which is a state in peru.there..you can find a lot of people who has boats and charges to go to brazil. through the amazon river. the amazon goes by peru ecuador brazil etc. you dont have to go to bolivia in order to get to brazil.if you want to go to brazil after peru…dont go to the capital cuz its too far….go to cuzco…dont go to the coast…only sierra and selva..iquitos is in the selva. check the map

In which book did H P Lovecraft write about his visit to Florida?

September 15, 2009 - 11:12 am 1 Comment

Greetings,

I work as a historic tour guide in Saint Augustine, Florida. Sometimes, I do research to develop new tours or stories for tours we already offer. About a year ago, I noticed in a bio that Lovecraft had visited Saint Augustine at some point. Since H. P. is known to have written a few travelogues, I was very interested in what sites he might have visited while here.

I purchased Miscellaneous Writings from Arkham House Publishing through Amazon. There are a few travelogues in here, but none of them mention his trip to Florida. I contacted Arkham about the remaining travelogues. The responce e-mail simply stated that they (Arkham) didn’t know where I could find the other travelogues.

Has anyone seen this information? If I could pin-point the title of the correct travelogue, I would at least have a chance of hunting down a copy to buy or borrow.

As far as I know Lovecraft never wrote a travelogue containing reference to Florida. However, his story ‘The Thing on the Doorstep’ is set in Florida. His long-lost manuscript of ‘Shadow out of Time’ was rewritten and transcribed by his friend Robert Barlow in Florida but contains no mention of the state.

where can i order guitar hero world tour?

September 15, 2009 - 11:12 am 4 Comments

I am looking for the $189.99 version of the guitar hero world tour band kit that includes the drums. I have checked amazon, ebgames, toysRus, walmart, newegg, target, bestbuy, circuit city, buy.com… and some other places I can’t recall.

I understand if it’s sold out and I’m too late, that’s ok because I don’t have time to play it for a bit anyway. But, does anyone know…

1. Is there a place where I can order it for ~190 online without a 50 "s&h charge"?
2. Will they be selling the drums separately since you can buy the guitars & game now?
3. Will there be more ghwt before the winter holiday shopping season?

Thanks!
I know it’s a pre-order, but the pre-orders are sold out everywhere so the local store was saying they don’t know when they’ll get a shipment after the pre-orders.
http://worldtour.guitarhero.com/us/ just refers you to all the sold out stores except redoctane which is selling it at 50 more than everyone else…

Go to this web site and you can pre-order the game as just the game, game with guitar, or the whole bundle.

please help! peacock bass has ick!?

September 13, 2009 - 1:17 pm 2 Comments

Hello all. So my peacock bass was doing better from when i changed the water in the tank….he is eating as usual and looks healthy….but this morning i woke up and go check on my fish and i notice he has little white spots on his head and on his fins. Also a little on his body.(looks like salt on his body) It is not severe but i want to treat it before it gets that way. The other day my brother got a baby peacock bass and it got ick very severly so he bought quick cure.. I put that in today but i just wanna know if someone can tell me the best way to get rid of this ick….my temp dropped 4 degrees from last night and is now at about 74. I heard this could be the reason the ick infected him….Im going to buy a heater tomorrow and bring the temp up to about 85 and keep using the quick cure….will this get rid of the ick? If not what is another method i should try to get rid of it? Also just because my fish has ick does that mean he wont eat? Thank you in advance! Please help!
Well i am goin to first try putting the temp up to 85 and try the quick cure….i am reading that it works well…The instructions say to remove the carbon from the filter….i have a overhang filter with the filter cartridges….how do i remove the carbon from this type of filter? should i just take the cartridge out? Thank you

the best way that i have found to take care of ich is by increasing the water temp to about 86*F

Add aquarium salt,

And a product like jungle buddies ich clear.

The reason you increase the water temp is that it will makethe parasite go though its lifecylce faster. the heat makes it mature faster.

Aquarium salt will help eliminate them. They are a freshwaterparasite so the salt will help them die.

And i use the jungle buddies product because it helps against secondary illness and helps eliminate the problem.

Remember peacock bass live in warm water. when i was in miami fishing for them, the guide told me that they need the warm water. The reason why they dont make it in northern florida is because the water temp is too low.

Remember they come from the amazon so they can handle warm water temps.

peru to the amazon?

September 13, 2009 - 1:17 pm 4 Comments

me and my friend are going to lima, peru to visit her aunt for a couple weeks next summer. we were wondering about if it would be possible to visit the amazon also. how long would it take to travel there from lima? what would be the best transportation? would it be possible to go just as a day trip for the two of us? thank you!

Iquitos is one of the popular tourist places. You can not get there by road. Plane cost is approximately $90.00 US and takes about an hour.

Iquitos is at the head of the amazon river. Population is approx 400,000. You can get pretty cheap lodging there.

Nice place to visit. I built a house there. Me and my wife are in the photo in fromnt of the flag on the first internet link.

PADDLETOTHEAMAZON.COM - Join the expedition

June 26th, 2001 - Vicksburg Mississippi.
During a 1 month paddling expedition from Iowa down the Mississippi River to the Florida Keys, my brother Jon and I are graciously allowed to tag along for the ride.
We brought our big red canoe all the way from Canada to shoot the documentary “Paddle to the Amazon”
I couldn’t help feeling the spirit of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer as we followed our heroes down the mighty Mississip.

Travel Agency in Peru - Discover Huanta Urco, the canyon of Chachapoyas

September 13, 2009 - 1:16 am No Comments

http://www.fertur-travel.com/chachapoyas_tours.html

Huanca Urco is a canyon five minutes from the town of Huancas, itself only 20 minutes from Chachapoyas.

The canyon has a direct drop 2000 meters deep.
The Sonche River runs along its base. Its a small but powerful river.
Along its route you can enjoy a variety of orchids, seasonal plants, medicinal herbs, and multicolored landscapes.

Narrow paths lead down to the bottom of the canyon and follow the course of the river.
On the other side immense mesas loom over the valley.. In times of flooding they form a string of seven waterfalls that together create a spectacular natural scene.
