Can I keep a 5" peacock bass, 4.5" red devil, and Green Terror together?

September 29, 2009 - 8:07 pm 3 Comments

Thinking about getting a peacock bass (Cichla ocellaris) and a red devil (Amphilophus labiatus) together with my Green Terror (Aequidens Rivulatus)……..

Michael,

You can keep almost anything with anything if they have enough room, but in a home aquarium I don’t know of anything that a red devil will get along with (even other red devils).

If you decide to try, at least have some alternative option such as telling the fish shop you might bring them back or another tank, because when they don’t get along they really let you know it.

Getting a bit confused with the guitar hero world tour band bundle for ps3?????help??!?

September 29, 2009 - 8:06 pm 1 Comment

ok so here’s the situation im in at the mo:
every year my parents spend £150 on me at xmas so this i asked for guitar hero world tour band bundle with drums etc so i went down town (yesterday) to show them what i wanted so we went into GAME and it advertised it coming out on 7th november and it was available for pre-order, if you pre-order you get a free bass guitar. so i asked one of the staff how much the band bundle will be when it comes out and he said it would be about £130 and then a member of staff next to us corrected him and said it will be £150 maybe even £180, now my parents said they would rather spend £10 deposit to pre-order and get me the bass guitar but they cant afford £180.
I just want to know if the price is confirmed for UK yet???
will it be £130, £150 or £180?
and i looked on play.com and amazon and game.co.uk and they all say £150 but they say it comes out on 14th november? so does it come out on the 7th or the 14th?? and is it definately going to be £150??
furthermore whats the difference between the bass guitar and the lead guitar???
can i use the bass as the lead and vice versa???

p.s. i apologise for any spell mistakes

Guitar hero: World Tour is out 14/11/2008 (UK)

Price confirmed = £149.99

Get it from Play.com, Free Delivery & available for pre order…

(you get the free bass guitar with this too)

The game on its own comes out on the 7th… the band pack is out 14th

What is the name of the film about a ship in the Amazon?

September 27, 2009 - 6:09 pm 2 Comments

I am trying to think of the name of a certain film. I believe it’s about a huge steam ship traveling up the Amazon river… I think the movie might have been made in the 80’s. Does anyone remember what I’m talking about?

Fitzcarraldo, amazing movie. and i’m not sure if you’re a fan of the adult swim cartoon series Metalocalypse, but they parody that film very well in one episode.

What are the most common plants & animals you’d encounter if you were on the Amazon RIVER?

September 27, 2009 - 6:08 pm 1 Comment

I’m doing a project for school (basically it’s like a survivor man experiment) and i tried googling stuff but it goes to the Amazon in general, but i need the river and not much far off into the actual jungle.

Some other things that would help is if you know:
1. What plants are edible.
2. What animals i could eat.
3. What you can do to evade predators

BTW I’m doing this with a partner and the only things we are equipped with are a kayak and a leatherman tool (each of us get our own)

From Wikipedia:

Along with the Orinoco, the river is one of the main habitats of the Boto, also known as the Amazon River Dolphin. The largest species of river dolphin, it can grow to lengths of up to 2.6 metres (8.5 ft). The boto is the subject of a very famous legend in Brazil, about a dolphin that turns into a human.

Also present in large numbers are the notorious piranha, carnivorous fish which congregate in large schools, and may attack livestock and even humans. However, only a few species attack humans, and many are solely fish-eaters, and do not school.

The bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas) has been reported 4,000 km (2,500 mi) up the Amazon River at Iquitos in Peru. The arapaima, or pirarucu (Arapaima gigas) is a South American tropical freshwater fish. It is one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, reportedly with a maximum length in excess of 3 m (9.8 ft) and weight up to 200 kg (440 lb). Another Amazonian freshwater fish is the arowana (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum) which is also a predator and very similar to the arapaima, but reaches a length of maximum 120 centimetres.

The Anaconda snake is found in shallow waters in the Amazon basin. One of the world’s largest species of snake, the Anaconda spends most of its time in the water, with just its nostrils above the surface.

The river supports thousands of species of fish, as well as crabs, algae, and turtles.

Is Tokio Hotels Zimmer 483 Tour dvd going to be sold at hot topic?

September 27, 2009 - 6:08 pm 1 Comment

Ok, so i heard that the German band Tokio Hotel is going to be releasing "Tokio Hotel Zimmer 483; European Tour" dvd in the US. At first they only released it in Europe, but now they are releasing it in the US by popular demand. So my question; Is the dvd going to be released at hot topic? Or just at Amazon.com??

I think its just gonna be online..
I just got mine today and I bought it through ebay
(if you buy it from germany it probably wont work on your dvd player unless you got a region free one.. the dvd i got was region free so that can work out too)

you can also buy it on target’s online store:

what are the best holiday spots in South America to travel with an 10 month old?

September 25, 2009 - 5:15 pm 1 Comment

I’d like to visit either Peru or Brazil in November (Thanksgiving time). But I am concerned on whether it is safe to go there with my 8 month old baby. I’ve heard that the altitude in Machu Picchu might make it tough for a baby to breathe, and I personally think that the Amazon won’t be safe either. So I’d like to know of other baby friendly places to visit in the area where the entire family can have a good time. All suggestions are welcome! Thanks

I think you had best bone up on the politics of the countries in South America. Brazil is relatively safe and does have modern medical care if needed. However, the country is plagued by gang violence. So if you go, I would strictly stay in the el touristo mode. In other words, I would not stray from the beaten path.

Argentina is another relatively safe country to visit and is the SA country that’s most similar to the US. I would be careful traveling around the countryside however, because its real estate ads use proximity to a police station as a selling point. That should tell you something.

Uruguay, like Argentina, is a very Europe nation and is very safe, compared to other South American countries. Montevideo also has wonderful beaches and beautiful people. With an 8 month old baby you might not be interested in beautiful people…but then again.

Chile is also safe and it has an interesting area to the south that is reminiscent of Switzerland but with volcanoes. You’ll also find a lot of ex-Nazis there, so if fascism isn’t your thing, you might not want to bring up your egalitarian beliefs.

Other than these four countries, I would not want to visit the rest, much less with a baby. Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Columbia and Paraguay are political nightmares with revolutions and violence a constant everyday occurrence. If I was in a suicidally adventurous mood, which happens to me every twenty years or so, I would venture it, but definitely not with an infant.

Personally, I’m partial to Buenas Aires because of its Parisian atmosphere the tango. But that’s just little old sophisticated me. I hope I been of some use.

where can i get some soothing animal sounds accompanied by music, like jungle or amazon with wolves, lions etc?

Motorcycle touring in France? Roscoff (NW France)-Bordeaux-St Tropez?

September 25, 2009 - 5:15 pm 1 Comment

Amazing- there are no books about motorcycle touring in France on Amazon. In fact, there are only a couple for the whole of europe. America by contrast has loads. I am planning a trip from London- Cornwall- Plymouth- Roscoff- Bordeaux- St Tropez. I have 4 days to burn it from Roscoff (NW Tip of France) to St Tropez. I only want to take A or B roads. I want to know which are the best ones. Touring websites promise everything but deliver nothing as far as I can see. Anyone know the best route (or part of the best route) to take? Or even a good book/ website? Many Thanks.

I took 21 days for a road trip in France. I had terrible luck finding routes ahead of time, however I just took a map and went with it! The best time!!!

Finding the small villages off the most traveled roads was by far the best traveling I have done.

Have fun. I really liked the Loire Valley region- it was VERY nice.
