peacock bass fishing?

August 28, 2009 - 4:16 pm 2 Comments

i live in boca raton and theres some peacock bass in the canals near me does anyone know any good peacock bass fishing spots in any nearby cities or here in boca and what are some good lures or baits for peacocks

Not familiar with area, but the ultimate bait for any bass is the Senko.
It’s made by Gary Yamamoto. You can get them at any bait shop & they also have them at Dicks Sporting Goods. Have Fun!
Oh yeah, they normally bite on the first drop, if not just jig it.

Sorry yahoo must have edited The name of sporting goods store. It’s not like the store is all over the U.S or anything(lol)

How much pristine wilderness land remains in the Lower 48?

August 28, 2009 - 4:16 pm 2 Comments

What percentage of the land lies outside of agricultural and urban areas.

I am a regular subscriber to Nat’l Geographic and am fascinated by those areas which remain ‘untouched’ by man (parts of New Guinea, Amazon, Siberia, Mongolia).

I’ve travelled cross-country in the US and have come to realize how blessed we are to have such a humongous country. Much of the land though is paved or covered by farms - hence the above question.

The Northwest is a large area where the population is not as large as the rest of the country. Wyoming only has about a half a million people- less than Washington D.C. Montana, Idaho, and the Pacific Coast still have plenty of forests, though very little is virgin forest.

The truth is, there can be no exact measurement of the amount of untouched land. To do that, one would need to know where every person that ever existed has gone or settled. Trust me, there is still a large amount of wilderness in the Lower 48, but because of the developed transportation systems, it is possible to access the most remote areas in a matter of days.

I see your point about the untouched places of the world. Russia is huge, 2.5 times larger than the whole U.S. but with half the population. The Amazon is still fairly secluded but many people are encroaching on its territories as part of the deforestation process. In North America, Alaska and Canada are very huge areas that are very sparsely populated.

peacock bass wont eat!!?

August 26, 2009 - 4:11 pm 3 Comments

Hello. I have a peacock bass that is from 5-6 inches…i had him for a couple months…he is in a 55 gallon tank for now…the other day my tank got really green(gradually got like this) so i removed him from his tank and changed all the water and cleaned the gravel from his tank….water is crystal clear and at 80 degrees…not sure bout my ph because my tester isnt the greatest….anyway now my peacock bass wont eat anymore…he chases them but wont eat them…he looks perfectly healthy…colors are fine and his spikes stay up most of the time….i got him to eat one tiny rosi red but thats it…he didnt even try to grab it he waited for it to come in front of him….what can be my problem???please help me if you can! thank you!

it is normal as you moved the fish and stressed him out. It happens.

He will start eatting within a usual of 4-5 days. Remember that fishes dont need to eat everyday, it is a new concept that is comming out from Fishprofiles.com, but it makes sense.

THey recomend to even skip a meal or two to mimic natural conditions of not eatting everyday.

But anyway, he will be fine, alittle stressed out. He will start eatting soon.

Leaving the minnows in there is just fine, they should be gone within a few days.

I want to explore this world and experience many cultures. What jobs are related to this?

August 26, 2009 - 4:11 pm 1 Comment

How I got this realization is by getting an impression when reading National Geographic magazines, and by watching the TV show, Survivorman.

I would like to get out there and meet Tribes in the deep Amazon forest. I would like to travel a lot and experience many cultures around the world. I would like to be with nature and all.

What jobs are related to this?

Top level professional photographer.
Biology or other such science researcher.
Travel writer.

But you have to be very good to do any of these.

If you could get away with it would you kidnap George Bush and drop him in the Amazon jungle .?

Does the Jungle deserve Bush .
I think not . Its funny the terrorists did not attack anything close to florida . They needed Bush Alive .

No, I would drop Nancy Pelosi
